Port Elizabeth - otherwise known as PE, the Friendly City or the Windy City - is situated in the Eastern Cape Province, 770km east of Cape Town and stretches for 16 km along Algoa Bay. It is a fairly quiet coastal town that is known for its friendly locals.
Home of South Africa's motor vehicle industry, PE boasts most several vehicle assembly plants such as General Motors, Volkswagen and Ford.
It is also a major seaport with the most significant ore loading facilities in the southern hemisphere.
Located at the end of the picturesque Garden Route along the Cape Coast, the city is one of South Africa's major destinations for tourists, many of whom visit simply to enjoy the fine beaches in and near the city.
Also a great destination for whale watching, with Humpback whales sighted at various times of the year, and Bryde's whales sighted all year round.
